Kyrgyz Embassy in Geneva is one of the main results of wise and well performed foreign policy of the Kyrgyz Republic. The Concept of the foreign policy is a political document which defines and maintains the major goals and strategies of the KR foreign policy and relations and is based on the terms and conditions stated in the Constitution, Declaration of Independence of the state, and various regulations of international law. Relations with Switzerland play dominating role in Foreign Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic for one simple reason - this is one of the most developed and wealthy countries in the world. The economy of Switzerland is tightly related with European countries and especially those countries which are the members of EU. On the whole cooperation with European countries and Kirghizistan in particular is very important for the country and its people.

From September 10, 2002, Switzerland also became a full member of the United Nations as a result of a popular vote. After this significant event Switzerland joined the membership of such international organizations as World Trade Organization, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, European Free Trade Association, Council of Europe, Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, etc.

The major and the most important goal of the Swiss foreign policy is to protect the independence and well-being of the country. Switzerland is a country which works to preserve democracy, human rights, consideration to natural recourses and fights against the poverty. Swiss government is the head body which regulates all Foreign Affairs and The Federal Department of Foreign Affairs in particular. Cooperation with other countries is very important not only for Switzerland, Swiss economy and state's development but also for many foreign countries as far as Switzerland is a perfect example to follow in every respect. This indisputable fact makes foreign relations of Switzerland and the Kyrgyz Republic vitally important.
