State Structure of the Kyrgyz Republic

State structure of the Kyrgyz Republic enables its people to exercise their power through the system of state bodies, local self-government bodies and of course, directly. Any resident of the Kyrgyz Republic can participate in Republic's politics and forming of the state structure by means of elections, referendums, national congresses, various meetings and gatherings.

Supreme body of the executive state power is the government. Government ministries, state committees, administrative agencies and local state administrations are the bodies of the executive state power, which are subordinate to the government. Local self-government bodies also play very significant role in the state's structure of the Kyrgyz Republic. Such local bodies include: 1) local councils; 2) territorial public self-governing bodies; 3) national congresses and other bodies which are usually formed by the population.

The President of the Kyrgyz Republic is the head of the state and executive power. The president is elected for 5 years and within this period he is empowered to define the structure of the government, appoint the Prime Minister after People's Assembly approval, elections to parliament chambers and local authorities. He is also authorized to sign, publicize, return and veto laws and agreements endorsed by the Constitutional Court of the Kyrgyz Republic. Decrees and orders published by the President always have the force of law.

The Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic defines the basics of the state structure. The Parliament of the Kyrgyz Republic serves as a representative body which is empowered to control those functions which are in its authority.

The president of the Kyrgyz Republic is a guarantee of human and civil rights and freedoms. Today state's government at the head of the President realizes Permanent Mission to UN office/Kyrgyz Embassy in Geneva. This mission is supposed to result in closer cooperation with UN and Switzerland and moreover give Kyrgyz population the opportunity to travel Switzerland without any problems.
